It was mid-February when I first Noticed an apparent clump of weeds growing in a pot in a corner of our laundry room. But I was busy - too busy to be concerned with the weeds.
Now, several days later, my attention was again drawn to that pot as I persued preprations for our upcoming vacation. All set to pluck out the offending weeds, how startled I was to discover they weren't weeds at all; they were two inch seedlings of Gerbera daisies!
Late last fall, reluctant to bid farewall to gorgeous summer blooms, I had potted several Gerbera daisy plants from our gardens to bring inside and carry over the winter. Without Artificial grow-lights and diminishing natural
sunshime, it was a daunting task just to keep them alive. Despite my attentiveness, by early December sadly one had succumbed. But the pot was a favorite and I mushed, "After the holidays I'll fill it with a house plant". Hence it
was temporaly relegatede to a corner of the laundry room until I had time to tackle that project. Now, months later and largely forgotten, with soil bone dry, hard, and parched, three little plants where making a valiaanat efforts at life. No way had the original
roots survived; but seeds from previous blooms had somehow germinated in what could only be Termed as far as ideal conditions. Excited at the prospect of new life coming forth. I hurriedly gave the seedings a drink of water and placed them in a sunny kitchen window. Now eight weeks later I have new plants that
are robust and carry the promise of a fresh season of blooms.
As I marveled at the unexpected miracle that had transpired in my pot, I simultaneously felt a surging in my spirit as the Holy Spirit Spoke of the app arent dormant seeds of revival within New England, assuring me once again that, despite what we see, the promises of God
for our nation have not been extinguished forever. They, too will come forth in due season as the faithful remnant continues to seek God, declare His covenants over the land and pray.

For our God is faithful and His promises are true. When our spiritual pots are dried out and parched, when all around us we see unrighteousness apparently flourshing, when God's commandments are disregarded and flaunted, the refreshment of His Word floods
our fainting hearts with encouraging reminders that, "Behold I will do something new; now it will spring forth. Will you not be aware of it?"(Isa. 43:19) It may not come forth where and when, and how we expect, but we can be certain it will indeed come forth.
Even when the darkness seems oh so pervasive and gloom encircles our land and its leaders, when hope is fading, we can be sure God hears the cries of His people and His heart is moved. Out of desperation comes hope. Out of death emerges life. Jn 12:24 tells us, "Unless
a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it bears much fruit." God is indeed master of the impromptu, the unexpected, and the unlikely. Best of all He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is still on His throne and reigns on High. So, "Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow
weary," (Gal 6:9)
